Orange Theory Review

Orange Theory Review
I have been so interested in Orange Theory, as it seems to have gone viral in the fitness world.  Last week, I got to try the Orange Theory by me and I must say- I loved it!  The idea behind OT is to get your heart rate in the "orange zone" for long enough to cause calorie burn for 24-36 hours after exercise.  The orange zone is heart rate specific, so they do give you monitors to wear during class.  For the first 20-30 minutes you will be doing HIIT on a treadmill or rower.  The instructor, who is both PT and Orange Theory certified, will tell you to increase your speed or incline to get your heart rate to a certain level- blue, green, or orange.  Your HR and level are displayed on several tvs throughout the gym, so you know where you're at and can increase or decrease physical output accordingly.  Then for the last 20-30 minutes you do weighted circuit training.
Orange Theory Review
I burned a total of 607 calories during the class, and felt great afterwards.  I mean, my endorphins were like wahoooooo!  If you can't afford a Personal Trainer, I would HIGHLY recommend Orange Theory to anyone looking to: lose weight, tone, or exercise safely while pregnant.  Yes, you can do OT while preggo!  The trainer will recommend you speak to your doctor about target heart rate and such, taking into account if you're maintaining a serious workout regimen or starting a new one.  They will then change the metrics in the system to account for pregnancy and your new target heart rate so you don't overexert yourself!
